Alexander grew up in London, UK. He holds a BSc in Politics and International Relations from the University of Bristol (First class honours) and is currently pursuing an MSc in Crisis and Security Management at Leiden University. He previously researched Russia’s security agenda in the Arctic region for his thesis project and investigated China’s outlook on the world order, which he studied via a residential cultural exchange program at Beijing Institute of Technology.

Alexander has previously worked in the government sector in the UK, as part of the UK Local Government Association’s, National Graduate Development Program. Aspects of this work included supporting local municipalities in London with the formulation and implementation of various projects in the areas of democratic engagement: setting up citizens’ assemblies, enhancing co-production of projects and delivering more sustainable transport solutions to improve air quality.

He has a keen interest in how good governance can promote international security, focusing on issues such as crisis and conflict preparedness, resilience in the industrial base and the strengthening of democratic norms.
