Romain Malejacq

Assistant Professor at Radboud University

Romain Malejacq is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University’s Department of Political Science and Centre for International Conflict Analysis and Management (CICAM). His first book, Warlord Survival: The Delusion of State Building in Afghanistan, came out with Cornell University Press in December 2019 and his new research project on “Commander Politics in Civil War” has recently been awarded a prestigious VIDI grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO).

His work has been published in numerous journals (e.g. Security Studies, Perspectives on Politics, Civil Wars) and featured on influential blogs (e.g. Political Violence at a Glance, The Conversation, The Washington Post‘s Monkey Cage). Malejacq’s expertise is widely acknowledged and regularly sought out by international media (e.g. New York Times, Financial Times, Al Jazeera, France 24).
