Saskia Hollander is the director of The Broker – a knowledge broker organisation in the field of international politics & development. She is a political scientist and obtained her PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen with a dissertation on the use of referenda in Europe.
Previously she worked at the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) and the Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV). Her professional interests are political and economic inequality, the quality of democratic institutions and political participation.
Saskia is the author of the book The Politics of Referendum Use in European Democracies (2019, Palgrave Macmillan) and co-editor of the book Creative Crises of Democracy 2012, with J. Gijsenbergh, T. Houwen, W. de Jong (2012, Peter Lang).
