Winner Clingendael Spectator student column competition (July 2024)
Peter Sznewajs is an American student from metro-Detroit, Michigan studying International Relations, Political Science, and Sociology at Syracuse University, concentrating on global security, diplomacy, and European studies. He spent a year of high school in Toulouse, France, fortifying his interest in European culture and politics. In the Spring of 2024, he studied at DIS Stockholm in their Politics & Security Program, expanding his knowledge of the Swedish political system, meeting with members of Parliament, and learning about the rise of far-right politics. Upon graduation from Syracuse in May 2025, he plans to begin a career in diplomacy, defense, academic journalism, or politics.
