Joris Teer

Founder of Teer Strategy

Joris Teer is an internationally oriented writer, interviewer, researcher and consultant with an unceasing drive to explore the world’s politics. To make political science actionable for businesses and other organizations, Joris founded Teer Strategy – an advisory firm for (geo-)political risk analysis and strategy development through scenario building.

His research of Chinese foreign policy focuses on Europe-China relations (especially risks and opportunities for European business), China’s relations with the Middle East, and Chinese public diplomacy and soft power.

Joris speaks regularly on international issues for a wide variety of media and organizations (e.g. BNR Nieuwsradio). His contributions have appeared in three Dutch national newspapers and English-language university publications. Joris has published in an an academic journal and authored a research report on Sustainable Finance in Asia in partnership with ING Group where he worked as an Assistant Researcher at the Beijing-based International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF).

He completed a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences (hons. cum laude) at Amsterdam University College. Furthermore, he holds a Dual M.Sc. Degree in International Affairs focusing on China’s politics and foreign policy at Peking University (GPA: 3.85 out of 4.0) and on the international relations of the Middle East, crisis-decision making and political Islam at the London School of Economics (high-merit). Joris speaks Dutch (native), English (fluently) and Mandarin Chinese (B2/HSK4-5-level).
