Nick Bontenbal is a staff member at the LeidenAsiaCentre. He previously interned at the Clingendael Institute and Datenna BV. Nick graduated from Leiden University with a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy in 2022. He wrote his thesis on the topic of CCP discourse on diplomacy. During his bachelor’s degree in China Studies, Nick also studied Mandarin at Peking University for a period of one year.
