Goos Hofstee

Research fellow at the Clingendael Institute

Goos Hofstee is a Research Fellow at The Clingendael Institute since July 2017. Her work focusses on strategic foresight and international security and defence, with a specialization in Middle East politics, security and counterterrorism. She regularly lectures at universities on the topics of Middle East politics and security.

Goos has a background in international security and counterterrorism, as well extensive experience in the Middle East. Among others, she worked at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in London as consultant on defence- and security policy issues.

Goos holds an Msc in Middle East Politics (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London), an MA in International Relations (Utrecht University), and a BA in History(University of Groningen). She is currently working towards a PhD, researching Al-Qaeda’s institutional evolvement in context of its rivalry with IS.
